Have you ever taken the time to notice that family, the smile of that nameless person that fills up the picture frame before you buy it. That family that is so picture perfect? That is all I could think as I spent the morning capturing Renee and her family's pictures. Sure enough, each child that hopped out of their backseat was as adorable as the last! It almost took my breath away, as I said, "You have SUCH a beautiful, beautiful family." Oh....it gets better.......she has some of the most well behaved children I have ever had the honor to capture. They listen, they are respectful, they are funny, they are smart, and they listened to every word of direction their parents or myself gave them. I actually wrote her after the session to applaud their parenting skills. I actually met Renee when I was capturing a Labor and Delivery. She was the doc performing the c-section. She had this cool, calm and easy demeanor about her. She had one of the best bedside manners I have ever seen from a doctor. Well....basically Renee.....you and your entire family blew me away. I absolutely loved meeting each and every one of you!
I also designed their Holiday card. It is a super cute tri-fold card. the top row is the outside of the card, and the bottom is the inside......

Happy 1st Birthday!
Happy Black Friday everyone! Hope you are all getting your shop on, finding the best deals, and not getting trampled along the way! Rather than spending my favorite morning to shopping amidst the crowds, I will be shooting a wedding today!! But first.....I wanted to share this family session with you! This little man had the golden birthday of all birthdays. He turned one on 11/11/11. We started off at their house, and then went down the street to finish up his birthday session. I pulled up to a spot I thought would be perfect, and said follow me! As we began shooting, they informed me that we were in the EXACT spot where they had their first date. During that exciting, getting to know each other, falling in love stage...the two of them sat in the very spot that I had picked out. Although now they were two parents trying to make sure their child did not run thru a thorny bush....they were still that in love couple that they were back then.... +1. :)

Gus is 18 months! : SNEAK PEEK
Honest to goodness, I do not know how it is humanly possible to absolutely love Gus more than I do right now! He brings the biggest smile to my face and heart every time I hear that genuine laugh of his. I have adored little Gus-sy since before he was born. I am sure this has something to do with his Mom and Dad who I just think the world of. Ashley and I can sit and talk for hours, and Scott can always make me laugh. There are some people you connect with. Some people who are so real and genuine they make you know you were lucky to have met them. The Twellman's are those people to me. Here is a little sneak peek of Gus, Ash, and Scott. :)

Kara and Ben (and Macy)
It is kind of hard to believe how nice the weather has been lately. It seems like it has been August/September rather than late October. The day I met up with Kara and Ben was no exception. The leaves were changing and the temperature was perfect. We definitely lucked out on weather that day! Kara and Ben were completely adorable, and so was their dog, Macy! As soon as I saw her, I could only think about Charlotte's dog, Elizabeth Taylor, from Sex and the City. We probably had about ten people stop and ask to pet Macy.

And now, for some of my favorites of the session........

This dog LOVED water!! We did everything in our power to keep her out of the water! She may be little, but let me tell you....she is strong!!

I love this one!

Another one I love....
Time for Macy's big moment...

Ben has been a runner for while. Kara recently started joining him. It is their thing they have been doing together. The day after our session, they were going to be running in a 10K and 5K. I am proud to say they both finished with great timing (and looking good head to toe in Lululemon - one of my favorite running and yoga clothing stores). :)

Strength in Numbers
I have been sitting here staring at this computer screen for hours. I have so much to say, and I do not know how to say it. I always find it so easy to talk about my clients on my blog, but when it comes to personal blogs, it does not come so easy. It leaves me vulnerable. When I have something on my mind, I write. I have done this since I was a child. It is the only way I have found that I can get my thoughts organized and in one place. At times, it can be draining, but at the same time it is completely therapeutic. Okay, enough with the writer's block.....
In July, I lost a dear friend and man I held much admiration for. It was unexpected, sudden and left us all asking so many questions.
As soon as I received the news, I literally hurt for his beautiful wife and two daughters. My heart sunk to the pit of my stomach. I knew this pain, the pain of losing someone who was part of you. Nine years ago, on July 29, 2001, I suddenly, and tragically lost my brother. He was twelve years older than me. Growing up, I looked up to him. He could do no wrong in my eyes. He played the guitar and any instrument you could imagine. He was funny. He was a terrible driver. He was the life of the party, and usually the one throwing the party. He loved to karaoke. He loved to tease Alicea. He loved to baby me. He was so much to me. When I lost him, I lost a part of my heart. I remember days when there was no end to the tears. I never knew a pain like this, and it felt unreal. Occasionally, the pain would subside. It was followed with numbness. My world was rocked. Everything I thought I knew was no more. Looking back to this time in my life, there were two things that kept me going. My mom and my sister. They were the only ones who knew my pain. They were the only ones who knew Scott like I knew him and missed him like I missed him. I do not know what I would have done with out them. There were times we laughed at the little things we loved about Scott, and there were times when I did not know where my next breath would come from, and there they were. The care, concern and love we shared helped me find that next breath each time. We walked through the pain together. I knew that I needed them like they needed me. The three of us girls were all we had. We got through it, because together as one, we had strength in numbers.
(Taken with my iphone, so not the greatest quality....but a pic of me, my brother, sister, and mom.)
A few weeks ago, Leslie had asked me to snap a couple pictures of her and the girls. She was so incredibly thankful for all of the love and support from family and friends. She wanted to send out a special Thanksgiving Card as a token of appreciation. I arrived at the Morse home early on a Saturday morning. The entire time I was there, I could see the strength that they gave each other. They needed each other like I have needed my mom and sister for the past nine years. The pictures below are my favorites of the day. When I look at them, I see strength, love, faith, and hope. The foundation and love that you three share as a family is incredible.

"Fireplace Baby" is One!!!
I seriously can not count how many times someone has said, "I love that picture of the baby on the fireplace!!" One year ago, we showed up to shoot an Itty-Bitty session. As we were wrapping up the session, we had one last idea to get a shot of little Chase Daniels fast asleep on the fireplace mantle. We never knew it would make such an impact or how many people would have something to say about it.
**Flashback**

Well little Chase is growing up fast. I met up with his family at City Garden to capture his one year and family pictures. He was no longer a sleepy baby....I was chasing after him and making silly sounds the entire time. :) I love having the opportunity to see our kiddos grow up, especially when they are this cute!!

Love this one.
There is always time for a little fun....
